2017 Finish=A-Long

I don't quilt.  I want to quilt but I don't have the patience AND I'm very particular so trying to put multiple fabrics together that don't neccesarily 'match' or overlook the occasional crooked stitch drives me nuts.   However,  I love the fabrics and the designs and the end product so I'm going to give it a try. Baby steps...  maybe not even a quilt but something, anything....

My mom on the other hand is an amazing quilter.  You can find her at The Shy One Sews.  She was preparing her list for the 2017 Finish-A-Long and I decided I was going to join in.

Marci Girl Designs

Here's what I've got so far...

(1) This Fox softie will be a gift for my niece Riley.  I was so proud of myself for putting together 8 different fabrics!

(2) Since Valentines Day falls in this quarter, I'm working on a pillow.  I am hoping to use the 'Dear Heart' collection by Riley Blake if I can find it locally.  I have some backup fabrics chosen just in case.

(3) Easter is coming up quick after Valentines so I should finish the easter buckets.  This is one of the interior fabrics..

I could really use some new oven mitts (4) and potholders (5) so I'll get around to those.
I'm using these patterns and fabric rescued from the donation pile...

Excited to dust off the sewing machine!

  3. That fox is super cute. The hardest part of quilting is picking fabrics that "match". Just trust your instincts - you know what you like!! Or if all else fails, buy bundles curated by shops/bloggers who's style you like, or buy from the same design/series, as these are usually made to coordinate with itself. All it takes is the first step and you'll be off and away on a quilting adventure - at least that's how it happened for me :-)
